League Cup

Eastcombe FC 4    Wotton Rovers 0

After two defeats in a row Eastcombe went into this game needing a win to get back on track. With Ross Collins holding his place in defense, Andy Kerr returned in midfield with the idea of him breaking up opposition attacks in midfield. This worked a treat with the Wotton goal under constant attack and it only took 5 minutes for Eastcombe to open the score with a goal from Chris Underwood. Within 5 minutes of that Andy Kerr got his first goal of the season and only 2 minutes after that Chris Underwood got his second and Eastcombe's third.

Unfortunately towards the end of the first half Andy Kerr injured his leg and had to be substituted by Jamie Prout. This was unfortunate starting to dominate midfield in a Jorg Albertz sort of way.

The weather as appalling and not only did the lads have to play in heavy rain the wind became stronger and the home team battled into it and inevitably were pinned back as Wotton took advantage to try and get back into the game. But Eastcombe held on and even extended their lead with a goal in the last five minutes through Ralph Ward.

Also a big thank-you to Graham Collins for refereeing the match in such appalling weather and with only an hours notice.
