MAN OF THE MATCH
Here is the game by game list of Eastcombe's
Man of the Match
At the end of the season the player with the most MoM
will
win a trophy
9th September 2001 Charfield 7-1
Adam Gibbs
Considering he was playing his first game for us he put in a storming game. For the first 20 minutes he was a bit lost but from then on stamped his play all over the game. His tackling was hard and fair and his distribution was excellent. All his display required was a goal and it almost came with a great snap shot from the edge of the area which unfortunately came off Tom Hannam and crashed off the upright. As a club we were a little concerned at the loss of Craig Mills but Adam evaporated those fears today with a fine display
12th September 2001 Hawkesbury 5-1
Chris Underwood
There was fierce competition for the award in this match. Adam Gibbs again put in an excellent shift winning the ball and tirelessly running up and down the pitch covering, it seems, every blade of grass. Charlie Benson and Andy Kerr solid at the back. But Chris just shaded it with his hard work, two assists and a goal. He also towards the end of the game dropped into midfield to shore it up when everybody started getting tired.
16th September 2001 Avonvale 5-0
Tom Humphries
Tom had a fine game today. From coming in to the team as a fringe player, three steady performances at right back has resulted in making it difficult for the coaches to think of another player that could do a better job. Although his performance was unspectacular he did what he was asked and the award is for raising his game over the last three matches
23rd September 2001 Slimbridge 1-2
Charlie Benson
Played a captains game today with an outstanding performance at the back. When his regular partner in central defence, Andy Kerr clearly not fit he covered the pitch making match saving tackles and when Ross came on along side him he helped him settle in and most of the second half attacks started with one of his tackles
7th October 2001 Wotton 4-0
Ross Collins
Ross was unfortunate in not getting the award in the Golden Valley game but management decided on collective responsibility there was no award. But he answered it by giving another fine display in defence. He was neck and neck to receive the prize with Andy Kerr but when Andy had to go off at half time with an injury he easily won the award
