Slimbridge 2    Eastcombe 1

Our visit to Slimbridge unfortunately resulted in our first defeat of the season. but it should be looked on positively. In the second half Eastcombe played some of the best football of the season. It was only the fact that Slimbridge got a own goal towards the end of the match.

The game started poorly for Eastcombe with a poor management decision to play Andy Kerr when he wasn't fit. This was soon apparent when the Slimbridge attack were bearing down at will.

There was soon a goal for the home side and Eastcombe were fortunate to reach half-time with only the one goal deficit.

With Ross Collins coming in for Andy the defense tightened up and Eastcombe went on the offensive and an equaliser came through the reliable Tom Hannam. It was all Eastcombe from then on and an away win was on the cards until Eastcombe lost the unfortunate own goal. This only spurred Eastcombe to push harder again and when free kick specialist Simon Loftus hit the bar with a terrific shot all the Eastcombe players as one claimed a goal but the referee waved play on. Five minutes later Tom Hannam hit the post with a rasping shot. But it wasn't to be and Eastcombe fell to their first defeat of the season.
