Eastcombe 7 Charfield 1
Our first game of the season resulted in an excellent win over a spirited Charfield.
Tom Hannam opened the score but quite soon after Charfield equalised when our defense went missing. We took the lead almost immediately with Tom Hannam again getting on the score sheet.
The first half was very messy with both teams not getting to grip with midfield. although Eastcombe spurned a few chances to increase their lead before the half time whistle went.
The second half was a big improvement on the first with Eastcombe quickly getting a grip of the midfield and forcing a rapidly tiring opposition to defend deep in their own half. Chris Underwood made it three before Simon Loftus increased it to four.
Tom Hannam was running hard at the defense looking for his hat trick, and soon his hard work paid off with a fine strike at goal. James Westhead gave us the half dozen before in the dying minutes Jonathan Bourne grabbed number seven with his first kick of the ball.
